Things to remember while dealing with home foundation construction
By cooldude | September 23, 2011
A house needs to have something to shoulder its weight and provide a platform for good construction. That “something” is what we know as foundation. Depending on the location, the nature of foundation changes- stone, brick, preservative treated lumber, concrete etc.
The foremost thing to keep in mind while constructing a foundation is the soil type on which the house is going to be built. The type of foundation depends on the physical properties of soil like its bearing capacity, liquidity etc. The weight of the house is another important factor. Since the foundation is the base on which all the future construction is going to occur, an error during its construction can lead to severe problems including settlement and cracks in the houses. In an area where ground water level is quite shallow, another point to remember would be to make the foundation as much water proof as possible. A foundation is like the base of a tree, if the base of tree is weak the tree would not withstand an adverse weather.

The right way to texture your ceiling
By cooldude | April 4, 2011
If you are planning to texture your ceiling, you have to make sure that you pick the tools depending on the size of the ceiling and the texture you want. Get a brush attached to a fairly long handle and a brush with long bristles. Long bristles mean the texture on the ceiling is longer.
You first need to prepare the brush. For that you will have to soak the brush for at least an hour in warm water and then press the bristles on your flat board with its side down. Separate the brush bristles right down its middle. Keep the brush in that position to dry. Next attach the brush and the roller at the poll ends. Next put the roller on the handle. Your next step will be to dip the roller in drywall mud. Ensure that it is evenly covered.
Once that is done, roll your drywall compound on the ceiling. Focus on small areas first. Get someone to the “tamp” the ceiling. Once the entire ceiling is done, repeat the procedure
